Small Boat School - Langeland, Denmark

Learn traditional craftsmanship in historic buildings on the UNESCO Geopark island of Langeland, Denmark.

Small Boat School is located on the Southern part of the island of Langeland, Denmark.

Langeland literally means "long land", due to the island's north-south facing cucumber shape. The island is 52 km long but only around 10 km wide.

Langeland is a part of the UNESCO Geopark South Fyn Archipelago. The landscape on langeland is characterized by hundreds so-called "hat hills", which were formed at the end of the last ice age.

The waters around Langeland are arguably among the best cruising grounds in Europe.

The Small Boat School workshops are located in a restored, timber framed barn from 1862.

The barn is a part of the farm house where Mikkel, boatbuilder and instructor at Small Boat School, lives with his wife Gertrude and their two children, Kirsten and Lise.
