This heirloom, handmade “Fiddlehead” double paddle canoe, designed by the legendary Harry Bryan and build by me, is right now on auction.
If you were to commission one with me, the price for the working hours alone would be over US $20.0000. And lead time would be at least six months.
This is a unique opportunity to get a Fiddlehead Canoe that will get you on the water already this spring and summer.

In an effort to keep the art and craft of wooden boatbuilding alive for future generations, I will match the winning bid one-to-one in youth scholarships for the "Building the Fiddlehead Canoe" online apprenticeship, which will launch on August 1st 2023.

Construction type: Flat-bottom lapstrake canoe.
Materials: Larch hull with oak decking, coaming and trim. Pine two-piece double paddle. All fasteners and fittings are bronze, copper or brass. Epifanes paint. Le Tonkinois varnish.
The boat was built in the winter of 2020-2021. It has been in the water approximately 10 times and is in almost as-new condition.

- If a bid is received within the last 10 minutes of the auction, the deadline for bidding will be extended by a further 10 minutes. This will allow other bidders to respond.

- Small Boat School will match the winning bid one-to-one in youth scholarships for the "Building the Fiddlehead Canoe" online boatbuilding apprenticeship, which will launch on August 1st 2023. Example: Tuition for the Fiddlehead Canoe apprenticeship is USD $995. A winning bid of USD $10,000 would result in 10 full scholarships.
- Scholarships will be granted per application to aspiring boatbuilders under 30 years of age. Applications from non-profit organisations will also be considered.
- The winning bidder can pick up the boat in Copenhagen, Denmark. Or, I can ship it anywhere in the world.
- For winning bids under USD $20,000 shipping is extra and will be invoiced at cost price.
- For bids over USD $20,000, I will ship the boat for free within the EU/UK
- For bids over USD $25,000, I will ship the boat for free worldwide.
- Depending on where you live, VAT or import taxes may be added to the auction price.
